New Delhi, August 29: In the second Test match against England at Lord’s, Pakistan’s first innings collapsed for just 110 runs. Former England captain Michael Vaughan has sharply criticized Pakistan’s batting, likening it to “second division county cricket.”
Vaughan praised England’s bowlers, stating that they form a strong attack with significant potential. He believes they can all improve further. “When you have four bowlers performing well, it’s a promising sign for English cricket,” he noted, adding that there is still much cricket left to play.
Vaughan remarked, “I can honestly say that England’s bowlers are facing no challenge at all. Pakistan’s batting lineup is perhaps the easiest to bowl against. As a bowler, they are all lined up to bowl. They know there are wickets to be taken. Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, and Josh Tongue have dismantled Pakistan’s batting.”
The former captain continued, “I think they all realize that Pakistan won’t score big. Therefore, you will only be on the field for 40 to 50 overs, so you give your all in every spell. You approach Joe Root and say, ‘Hey, I’ll bowl another one.’ There are plenty of wickets available.”
He concluded, “It’s very straightforward. They are still doing a good job, and they look quite dangerous. I believe this bowling attack, if they continue in this manner, will challenge a better batting lineup. But this is Pakistan’s batting. Does it resemble second division county cricket? Based on their performance, it certainly doesn’t look like a Test match batting lineup.”
