Special Voter Registration Drive Launched Across Rajasthan

Jaipur, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : A special voter registration campaign has been launched across Rajasthan in line with directives from the Election Commission of India. This initiative aims to register eligible citizens who may have been overlooked during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, as well as first-time voters who have recently turned 18.

Naveen Mahajan, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Rajasthan, announced that district election officers and voter registration officials are taking necessary steps to facilitate this campaign in all districts. Over the past week, more than 57,000 applications for new voter registrations have been received from various assembly constituencies.

To promote this campaign, awareness activities and special camps are being organized in schools and colleges through electoral literacy clubs (ELCs). These efforts aim to encourage eligible citizens to register to vote. District election officers are monitoring and supervising the awareness programs conducted by the election commission at the assembly level.

The election department headquarters is regularly reviewing the progress of the campaign and related activities. To ease the registration process, the Election Commission has removed the requirement for submitting a mandatory affidavit for new voter registrations using Form-6 and for amendments through Form-8 in Rajasthan and other states.

Eligible citizens can apply online to register their names in the voter list via the Election Commission’s voter service portal or ECI Net. Applications can also be submitted through the booth-level officers (BLOs) in the applicant’s area.

Mahajan urged all eligible citizens to take advantage of this special campaign and register their names in the voter list. He encouraged people to motivate their family members and neighbors, especially those who have recently turned 18 or whose names are not yet in the voter list, to complete the registration process. He emphasized the election department’s commitment to strengthening a participatory, inclusive, and empowered democratic system.
