Karnataka BJP Responds to CM Shivakumars Allegations Over Voter List Manipulation

Bengaluru, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Karnataka’s political landscape is heating up as the BJP has launched a counterattack against Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s allegations. Shivakumar accused the BJP of attempting to remove names from the voter list, particularly targeting minority, backward, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe voters.

BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra questioned the legitimacy of bringing alleged discrepancies in the voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to the notice of the Election Commission. He emphasized the need for improvements in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) rather than shutting it down.

Vijayendra also alleged that during the SIR process, Muslim voters were gathered at mosques, where officials were reportedly positioned to facilitate the illegal addition of names to the voter list. He pointed to reports in both print and electronic media that support these claims. Party workers from the BJP and other political groups are actively raising concerns about these alleged irregularities with the Election Commission across various assembly constituencies.

He stated, “What is wrong with requesting the Election Commission to remove names suspected of being illegally added? If the names are legitimate, the Commission will keep them; if not, they will be removed. The final decision rests with the Commission.”

Vijayendra questioned the timing of the opposition’s concerns, asking where their worries were when names of alleged Bangladeshi migrants were supposedly included in the voter list. He accused those unable to match Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity of criticizing the Election Commission after elections. He expressed that he is not intimidated by threats or the possibility of an FIR being filed against him for raising these issues.

On the alleged irregularities within the KPSC, Vijayendra called for the state government to address the long-standing confusion and discrepancies in the recruitment process. He noted that many young individuals invest years preparing for competitive exams, only to be let down by irregularities in the system.

“Shutting down the KPSC will not solve the problem. The government must reform the Commission and examination system, ensure transparency, and take steps to provide employment opportunities for the youth,” he remarked.

Vijayendra also referenced Prime Minister Modi’s public service, stating that he has led India through various global challenges, viewing himself not just as Prime Minister but as the nation’s “chief servant.” He shared that he prayed for Modi’s long life and strength while visiting a temple, expressing hope for the realization of a developed India.
