Birbhum, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari extended his greetings for Kaushiki Amavasya, a significant festival celebrated at the renowned Tarapith Temple in Birbhum district. In a video message shared on the official BJP Bengal ‘X’ handle, he conveyed heartfelt wishes to all devotees of Goddess Tara.
Adhikari highlighted his personal involvement in the preparations for this year’s celebrations, stating, “I attended the preparatory meeting at Tarapith for the sacred occasion of Kaushiki Amavasya.” He assured that extensive discussions were held with administrative officials, elected representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims.
Special arrangements have been implemented to facilitate uninterrupted darshan of Goddess Tara. Measures include surveillance through watchtowers and CCTV cameras, additional bus and train services, ample parking facilities, fire safety precautions, and health camps for first aid.
Kaushiki Amavasya is observed from the evening of September 10 to the morning of September 11. This day is believed to mark the manifestation of Goddess Tara. The night of Kaushiki Amavasya holds particular significance for spiritual practices, with devotees seeking divine energy through worship. Special tantric rituals are conducted throughout the night at the nearby Tarapith Mahashmashan.
During this festival, a large number of devotees visit the Tarapith Temple for darshan and special prayers. Due to the expected high turnout, access to the sanctum sanctorum and touching the idol will be restricted, allowing devotees to view the deity from a distance. The auspicious time for worshiping Goddess Tara and Goddess Kali is set for the night of September 10, starting at 10:33 PM until 8:56 AM the next day.
