Lucknow, June 13: Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government regarding the burning of 4,000 electronic voting machines (EVMs) in West Bengal and the recent NEET paper leak.
In a conversation, Mehrotra revealed that a significant number of EVMs were destroyed in a fire at a government office in West Bengal. There had been ongoing demands for a recount of the votes, and a case had even been filed in the High Court regarding the matter.
He stated that the High Court was likely to order a recount in West Bengal. However, amidst this, 4,000 EVMs were reportedly used and subsequently burned.
Addressing the NEET examination issue, Mehrotra noted that last year’s paper leak incidents had severely impacted millions of students and their families. He accused the examination system of having serious flaws that adversely affected students’ futures. Mehrotra emphasized that the cancellation of exams and the need for re-conducting them placed mental and financial burdens on candidates.
He remarked, “The NEET exam paper was leaked, and BJP members were involved in this for a hefty sum. Afterward, the exams were canceled, yet no action has been taken against any of the accused. Now, the exam is set to take place again on June 21, with an additional 15 minutes allocated. We want the NEET exam to be conducted fairly this time, without any paper leaks.”
Mehrotra further accused BJP leaders of orchestrating paper leaks, which lead to exam cancellations, jeopardizing the futures of young candidates. He insisted that the NEET paper scheduled for June 21 should not face any further leaks.
