SIT Formed to Investigate Donations for Ram Temple: Vinay Katiyar

Lucknow, June 15: The Uttar Pradesh government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged theft and financial irregularities related to donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The SIT is expected to submit its investigation report within 15 days. Senior BJP leader Vinay Katiyar stated that the directive for the SIT was not solely issued by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath; Prime Minister Modi had previously called to emphasize the need for an SIT. Following that call, the SIT was formed.

In response to questions raised by the Samajwadi Party and the opposition, Katiyar sarcastically remarked, “Can you tell me who the opposition is? If Akhilesh Yadav is making such statements, he may be saying that. I will not comment further. He is a good person, so I won’t say anything.”

When asked about the recovery of millions of rupees and the opposition’s concerns regarding the government’s initial concealment of the theft, Katiyar stated that they too were unaware of the reasons behind the delay. He mentioned that they do not interfere much in temple affairs and visit occasionally. He noted that the donations received are substantial and that the current figures are not yet available. Once the total amount collected today is known, it will clarify the situation.

Katiyar asserted that those responsible for the crime will face punishment. “Our stance is clear. When the entire story unfolds, everyone will be dealt with appropriately. We will call in the accountants to review the complete accounts. No one will be spared; we will rectify this,” he added.

Regarding the demand for an audit of the donations to the Ram Temple, he mentioned that they do not have specific information but acknowledged that the accountants would have details on the funds received. He confirmed that he would visit the Ram Temple again to assess the situation.
