According to NHM, following these seven practices not only helps control blood sugar but also improves overall health and quality of life.

Adopt Healthy Eating Habits: Experts stress the importance of a balanced diet for good health. Reducing junk food, fried items, and processed foods while choosing simple, nutritious home-cooked meals can make a big difference.

Add More Fruits and Vegetables: Consuming at least 2-3 seasonal or regular fruits and vegetables daily provides essential fiber that helps stabilize blood sugar levels and manage weight.

Achieve Healthy Body Weight: Obesity is a major cause of diabetes. Maintaining a normal Body Mass Index (BMI) by gradually reducing excess weight can prevent many physical and mental health issues.

Adopt an Active Lifestyle: Engaging in at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily—such as walking, cycling, yoga, or dancing—improves insulin sensitivity and overall fitness.

Avoid Excess Sugar: Limiting intake of sugar, sweets, cold drinks, juices, and other sugary beverages is essential. Natural sweetness from fruits or honey is sufficient for the body’s needs.
