Jamtara, March 8: In Jamtara, Jharkhand, the Prime Minister’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) is proving to be a lifeline for economically weaker sections. People are purchasing medicines at significantly lower prices compared to private medical stores. Local residents have expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for this initiative.
The PMBJK is an ambitious welfare scheme by the Government of India, aimed at providing affordable and quality medicines to the public.
Located near Veer Kunwar Chowk in Jamtara, the Jan Aushadhi Kendra is a major relief for poor and middle-class patients. Patients and their families visiting the center report that generic medicines here are 50 to 90 percent cheaper than branded alternatives available in the market, significantly reducing overall treatment costs. This center offers essential medications for common ailments, as well as for serious conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases. Additionally, various surgical supplies are available at economical prices.
Sohan Singh, a customer, shared that he came to the Jan Aushadhi Kendra for medicines and found high-quality products at very low prices. He mentioned that he acquired all necessary medications for just 78 rupees, expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Another buyer, Rajat Sarkar, noted that the medicines available at the Jan Aushadhi Kendra are much cheaper than those in the open market. He has been purchasing medicines here at lower prices for the past two years and is very satisfied with the pricing and services.
Tarkeshwar Karmakar, the operator of the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, stated that almost all medicines prescribed by doctors are available at the center. He emphasized that obtaining medicines from the Jan Aushadhi Kendra leads to substantial savings on long-term treatment costs. He highlighted the quality of the medicines, noting that this scheme is immensely beneficial for the underprivileged. Over 200 patients visit the Jamtara Jan Aushadhi Kendra daily, and with discounts ranging from 50 to 90 percent, it significantly alleviates the financial burden of treatment for patients and their families.
