
Gurugram, March 18: In the ongoing DP World PGTI NexGen 2026 tournament, Siddharth Semwal has established a two-shot lead after scoring four-under 68 in the second round. With a total score of five-under 139, Semwal from Delhi (71-68) was tied for 10th place on the first day, trailing the leader by three shots. However, he made a remarkable comeback with six birdies and two bogeys, securing his position at the top of the leaderboard in this ₹25 lakh tournament.
Arjunveer Shishir (70) and Vishw Pratap Singh Gill (68) are tied for second place with a score of three-under 141. The first-day leader, Aryav Shah, slipped to fourth place after scoring 74 on the second day, ending with a total of two-under 142. A total of 38 players made the cut, which was set at five-under 149.
The NexGen Tour was initiated last year by DP World PGTI to provide equal opportunities for all professional golfers in India and to increase participation in the sport, thereby enhancing the level of golf in the country. The aim of NexGen is also to extend professional golf to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in India, increasing the sport’s reach.
The first tournament of the NexGen 2026 season began at the Aravalli Golf Club in Faridabad. Abhishek Kumar recorded the lowest score of the tournament in the third and final round, achieving an impressive bogey-free eight-under 64 for a stunning comeback victory. A total of 72 players participated in this leg.
The second tournament, the NexGen Phillaur Open 2026, was held from March 3 to 5 at the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur. In a remarkable performance, Army man Rajesh Kumar Gautam from Lucknow (70-67-70) defeated Pankaj Mandia (68-70-69) and Aditya Raj Singh Chahal (69-69-69) in a playoff to claim the title. All three players finished with a score of six-under 207 after 54 holes, leading to a showdown over three extra holes.
The next NexGen tournament took place from March 10 to 12 at the Lucknow Golf Club, while the final event of the 2026 season is scheduled to be held at the Patna Golf Club from March 24 to 26. This season, the prize money for each NexGen tournament has been increased from ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh.
