Gonda, July 20: A startling incident has emerged from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh. Reports of a theft involving millions of rupees prompted police to launch an investigation. During their inquiry, officers rigorously questioned a woman from the household, leading to the revelation of a conspiracy.
The entire case unfolded in the Khargupur police jurisdiction. Authorities successfully uncovered the theft, revealing that the mastermind was not an outsider but the woman herself, who colluded with her lover.
According to police, Poonam Kasodhan, a resident of Bishunapur market, had devised a plan to orchestrate a theft at her husband’s home. It is reported that she intended to flee with her lover after the crime.
Investigations revealed that Poonam summoned her relative and lover, Vikas Kasodhan, to the house at night. She opened the boxes herself to make it appear as if a burglary had occurred. To further the deception, she scattered household items around and pretended to be unconscious under the bed.
In the morning, she informed the police and her family that 9 to 10 thieves had broken in, assaulted her, and committed the theft.
However, police grew suspicious of her account. Upon intense questioning, Poonam confessed to the entire plot. Authorities have arrested both Poonam Kasodhan and her lover, Vikas Kasodhan.
Police recovered a significant amount of gold and silver jewelry, ₹50,000 in cash, and two Android mobile phones among the stolen items.
This incident took place in the Bishunapur market area under the Khargupur police station. The police are now proceeding with further legal actions.
