Lucknow, August 21: Disturbing CCTV footage has emerged in the tragic murder-suicide case involving SBI field officer Manas Bajpai, who allegedly killed his wife and sister before taking his own life in the Gomti Nagar area of Lucknow. The footage shows a heated argument between the couple prior to the incident, leading to chaos outside the bank as bystanders and security personnel rushed to the scene.
In the footage, 33-year-old Divya Mishra, an assistant manager at ICICI Bank, is seen arriving at work. Shortly after, Manas arrived in a car and called Divya outside. Their conversation escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Manas shot Divya and fled the scene.
After the shooting, Manas returned to his home in Gomti Nagar, approximately two kilometers away. Eyewitnesses reported that he appeared drenched in sweat. Once inside, he locked himself in a room and played the Hanuman Chalisa loudly on the television. He then shot his sister, Sheeba, who was reportedly struggling with mental health issues and undergoing treatment. Manas was allegedly concerned about who would care for her after his death.
Following this, Manas turned the gun on himself. Neighbors, alerted by the gunfire, broke down the door and found the siblings in a pool of blood. Police arrived shortly after and initiated an investigation.
According to authorities, after murdering his wife, Manas updated his WhatsApp status, accusing her of infidelity and mentioning plans to kill himself and his sister. He also referenced Divya’s sister, Pragya, and her husband, Bharat Yadav.
Divya and Manas were married in 2018 in an arranged marriage and had no children. Reports indicate that Divya had filed for divorce about a year ago and had been living with her parents in Alamabagh’s Shringar Nagar.
The police are currently piecing together the timeline of events using CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and other evidence.
