Shocking Incident in Amravati: Police Constable Commits Suicide with Service Revolver

Amravati, March 26: A deeply shocking incident has emerged from Amravati, Maharashtra. Police constable Vijay Dilip Nagapure, aged 35, who was part of the Quick Response Team (QRT), tragically took his own life with his service revolver on Thursday morning.

Nagapure hailed from Dhamangaon Katpur in Morshi Taluka and was residing in Amravati. He was unmarried and had been serving in the police department since the 2014 batch.

According to officials, Nagapure was on duty Wednesday night. After finishing his shift around 9 AM on March 26, he remained in the QRT office located within the police commissionerate premises. It was during this time that he made the tragic decision. The news of his death sent shockwaves through the police department.

The incident was first reported by his fellow constable, Akash Dilip Ambarte, who promptly informed senior officials. Police Commissioner Rakesh Ola, DCP Ganesh Shinde, and Shyam Ghughe arrived at the scene to assess the situation.

A forensic team and dog squad were immediately called in for investigation. Preliminary findings revealed a bullet recovered from the scene. The body has been sent to the district general hospital for post-mortem.

Police sources indicated that just before the incident, Nagapure had called his brother, Shyam Nagapure, who also works in the city police. During the conversation, he mentioned, “There’s a crowd at the petrol pump; I’ll fill up and come home.” This is considered to be his last communication.

Currently, the exact motive behind the suicide remains unclear. The police are investigating all possible angles.
