Jaipur, August 30: In a significant operation in Rajasthan’s border area, police and the CID (Intelligence Branch) have arrested 45-year-old Balwinder Singh, also known as Bindra. A reward of ₹25,000 had been announced for his capture. He is accused of supplying Indian SIM cards to Pakistani handlers and assisting in activating WhatsApp accounts linked to Indian mobile numbers in Pakistan.
District Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar stated that the operation was conducted under the directives of the Inspector General (IG) of the Bikaner range. Upon receiving intelligence about suspicious activities, the Anupgarh police and CID (IB) strengthened their intelligence network. Investigators revealed that Singh, a resident of village 27 A in Anupgarh, was allegedly roaming the border area to deliver Indian citizens’ SIM cards to Pakistani handlers.
The police allege that these SIM cards were used to activate WhatsApp accounts connected to Indian mobile numbers in Pakistan. Singh was reportedly working at the behest of Pakistani handlers and was involved in activities harmful to India’s sovereignty, unity, integrity, and security. A case has been registered at the Anupgarh police station, and Singh has been taken into custody.
Currently, he is being interrogated, and investigators are gathering information about his associates and the larger network involved in smuggling SIM cards across the border.
Authorities are also examining communication links with Pakistani handlers and identifying other individuals who may be part of this racket.
Officials noted that Singh was also wanted in a case registered at the Jaitsar police station. This case was filed under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. A reward of ₹25,000 was announced for information leading to his arrest in that case.
