
Surajpur, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : In a startling incident from Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh, a woman was scammed out of over ₹1.5 lakh with false promises of securing her husband’s release from jail. The case has raised serious concerns about exploitation and fraud in the region.
The incident occurred in the Bhattgaon police area, where the victim filed a complaint stating that a local man had approached her, claiming he could facilitate her husband’s bail in a murder attempt case. Along with taking her money, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Additional Superintendent of Police Yogesh Devangan confirmed that the complaint was lodged on October 2, 2026. The victim reported that the accused not only took her money but also exploited her under the guise of helping her.
Following the investigation, police arrested the suspect, who is now in custody. Meanwhile, the woman’s husband has been released from jail. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case to ensure justice is served.
In a related incident, another case of sexual assault emerged from Gujarat, where nine individuals, including two women, were arrested for allegedly assaulting a married woman during a so-called “purification” ritual. This shocking event involved accusations of infidelity and was reportedly recorded, with the footage later shared on social media.
The police have stated that the victim suffered physical and sexual abuse at the hands of multiple perpetrators during this incident.
