Patna, July 15: The Shivnarayanpur railway station, part of the Eastern Railway, has undergone extensive redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The revamped station is expected to be inaugurated soon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This newly transformed station will showcase a unique blend of modern railway infrastructure and Bihar’s rich cultural heritage.
According to railway officials, the historical significance of Shivnarayanpur station is noteworthy. It is located near the ancient Vikramshila Mahavihara, which was established in the 8th century during the reign of the Pala dynasty and served as a major center for Buddhist education. Vikramshila University is regarded as one of the prestigious educational institutions of ancient India, attracting students from various parts of the world.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the entire structure of the station has been developed with modern design and advanced facilities. The main building (facade) has been given an attractive and contemporary look, featuring a grand entrance for passengers, extensive glass structures, and premium ACP cladding.
The station complex now includes green gardens, pedestrian pathways, and improved passenger transit systems, providing travelers with a more convenient and comfortable experience.
During the redevelopment, special emphasis has been placed on Bihar’s cultural identity. Madhubani paintings have been beautifully displayed in the waiting areas and other key sections of the station.
Additionally, artworks and decorative elements inspired by Bihar’s traditional culture have been incorporated into the station complex, offering travelers a glimpse of the state’s rich cultural heritage.
Railway authorities state that the station’s design is based on the concepts of knowledge, education, and progress. Inspired by the historical legacy of Vikramshila Mahavihara, this station has been developed as a bridge between the past and the future.
