Mumbai, June 4: A statement by Shiv Sena MLA Abdul Sattar has stirred controversy in Maharashtra’s political landscape. He has leveled serious allegations against the BJP, claiming that there is an ongoing effort to dismantle the Shiv Sena.
Speaking in Mumbai, Sattar asserted that lower-level BJP workers are attempting to weaken the Shiv Sena in the district. He described this as a slow poison that is hollowing out the coalition from within.
Sattar pointed out that despite the BJP being a coalition partner and having the Chief Minister from their ranks, some of their district-level workers are undermining the Shiv Sena. Instead of collaborating, they are sidelining the Shiv Sena to consolidate power for themselves. He emphasized the need for reflection on this matter, as they are coalition partners, not adversaries. This issue should be openly discussed among party workers.
He noted that even with a BJP Chief Minister, their party workers are engaged in activities that harm the Shiv Sena. The BJP has taken control of local bodies, including municipal corporations and district councils, where the Shiv Sena once held sway. The power gained should be used appropriately, not misused. If the larger coalition party attempts to eliminate the Shiv Sena, it is fundamentally wrong. The BJP must respect their party.
Sattar mentioned that he had not felt this way before, especially during the initial two and a half years when he did not fully grasp the situation. However, over the past 18 months, he has clearly understood the prevailing attitude and methods, which he finds unacceptable. An order has been issued to withdraw nomination forms for the upcoming elections, which will be adhered to.
He has appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde to take this matter seriously and ensure justice for the Shiv Sena. Open discussions on this issue are crucial for maintaining the strength of the coalition. He stated that their leader conveyed a significant message in just a few words, highlighting the importance of understanding the situation. This is more than just a couple of words; it signifies a larger issue. When Eknath Shinde makes decisions, it will create a storm.
Sattar claimed that Eknath Shinde may once again become the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, possibly after two and a half years. He questioned who holds the remote control of Matoshree, stating it is Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. He also asked who controls their party’s remote, indicating it is Eknath Shinde. Regarding the future of both leaders, he said nothing can be said today. He referenced the unexpected alliance between Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray as an example of unpredictability in politics.
