Mumbai, June 8: The Shiv Sena (UBT) has advised Telangana Chief Minister K. Revant Reddy to refrain from making comments that deepen the divide between northern and southern states. The party emphasized that every state is an integral part of the nation and should be viewed through the lens of national unity rather than regional differences.
These remarks came in response to Reddy’s recent statements during a media interaction in Bengaluru, where he argued that people from South India are unwilling to be treated as “second-class citizens.”
During a press conference on Saturday, Reddy accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of being from North India, claiming, “You (BJP) lack the power to represent us.”
In the same conversation, Reddy further asserted that citizens of South India do not wish to live as “second-class citizens” under such circumstances.
The Shiv Sena (UBT), an ally of Congress in the India Block, responded to these comments by urging Reddy to avoid statements that create regional divisions and instead highlight the importance of national unity.
Spokesperson Anand Dubey stated that the country should not be divided based on states and highlighted the diversity present in India.
Dubey remarked, “This is not right. The country should not be divided on the basis of states. It is like a beautiful bouquet. One flower is one color, another flower is a different color, and some have different fragrances. But all are flowers, and together they make a bouquet.”
He stressed that every state deserves equal respect and recognition, regardless of geographical location, language, or cultural identity. India’s strength lies in its diversity and its ability to unite despite regional differences.
Anand Dubey added, “All states should be respected. Current CM Revant Reddy should understand that when we go to war against Pakistan, we do not see North or South. I hope these things will change in the future.”
