Shiv Sena (UBT) Calls Important Meeting of MPs Amid Internal Turmoil

New Delhi, June 17: Amid ongoing turmoil within the party, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has convened another meeting of its Members of Parliament (MPs). This follows a previous meeting held on Sunday, which saw the participation of three MPs.

Anil Desai, the Chief Whip of Shiv Sena (UBT), has sent a letter to all Lok Sabha members. The letter states, “All members of the Lok Sabha are hereby informed that an important meeting of the parliamentary party regarding various issues will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the parliamentary party office, Room 128-A, Constitution Hall, Parliament House, New Delhi. All Lok Sabha members are requested to be present at the meeting.”

Additionally, Shiv Sena (UBT) has scheduled a meeting for all legislators on June 22 at 4:00 PM at the party office. In a letter from Chief Whip Sunil Prabhu and MLC Anil Parab, it was mentioned, “A meeting of all members of the Shiv Sena (UBT) legislative party (both Assembly and Council) is called on June 22 at 4:00 PM at ‘Shivalaya’ located in front of the Ministry in Mumbai. Party leader Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray will guide this meeting. You are requested to be present on time.”

Previously, on Sunday, Uddhav Thackeray had called a meeting of MPs. Among the nine Lok Sabha members, Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje, and Sanjay Patil attended in person. Sanjay Raut reported that Omprakash Raj Nimbalkar, Bhausaheb Wakchoure, Nagesh Bapurao Patil Ashtikar, and Sanjay Deshmukh participated in the online meeting, while Sanjay Jadhav spoke to Thackeray over the phone. Currently, Shiv Sena UBT has nine MPs and 19 MLAs.

On June 16, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Arvind Sawant wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at the direction of party president Uddhav Thackeray. In the letter to the Speaker, serious objections were raised regarding the recognition of some MPs as a separate group or the possibility of merging with another political party. The demand was made that rebel MPs should not be granted separate recognition.
