
SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks have secured forward Alexander Wennberg with a three-year contract extension worth $18 million.
Wennberg, 31, was poised to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season but agreed to remain with the Sharks through the new deal.
This season, Wennberg has contributed seven goals and 19 assists. He was also selected to represent Sweden at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Over his career, Wennberg has played 830 games across teams including San Jose, the New York Rangers, Seattle, Florida, and Columbus, accumulating 108 goals and 288 assists. He joined the Sharks as a free agent prior to last season.
