Shahzad Poonawalla accuses Rahul Gandhi, Congress of vote bank politics

New Delhi, February 2: BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla accused the Congress party of prioritising vote bank politics over the Constitution. He said Congress claims to represent Muslims, advocates for Muslim reservation, demands quotas in contracts, and pushes for giving them ‘first rights’ over resources.

Poonawalla added that Congress is now suggesting changes in school timings for a particular festival and wants teachers to be given early leave during Ramadan. He mocked these steps as part of their vote bank politics.

He sarcastically said Congress should change its name from ‘Indian National Congress’ to ‘Islamic National Caliphate’ since, in his view, the party always places vote bank interests above the Constitution.

The BJP spokesperson also targeted Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, calling him a leader of propaganda, a champion of despair, and a king of negativity. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi was clueless about how to respond as soon as the budget was presented.

Poonawalla cited Rahul Gandhi’s statement calling the country’s economy ‘dead’ and noted that former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram was questioned four times on this claim. According to him, Chidambaram, who understands economics, never agreed that Rahul Gandhi was right.

He said Chidambaram knows whether the economy is ‘dead or strong’. Poonawalla claimed India has risen to the fourth position globally, has the highest foreign exchange reserves, the highest growth rate, and the lowest inflation rate.

Despite these facts and figures, the BJP spokesperson accused Congress of continuing negative politics and misleading the public. He alleged that Congress focuses only on political gains and vote bank appeasement rather than the country’s development.
