
Bhopal, March 13: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced an increase in the stipend for junior doctors working in medical colleges. This new stipend will take effect from April 1, 2025.
Previously, junior doctors had gone on strike due to the lack of promised stipend increases. The government assured them that an order would be issued soon, prompting the doctors to return to work. Now, the government has officially released the order to raise their stipends.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla stated that the state government is committed to enhancing the quality of medical education and strengthening health services. He expressed confidence that junior doctors would contribute significantly to improving the state’s healthcare system.
Shukla emphasized that junior doctors are a vital link in the healthcare system. They not only complete their medical training in colleges and affiliated hospitals but also play a crucial role in providing continuous health services to patients. He had previously instructed relevant officials to find a positive solution for the junior doctors, leading to the recent stipend increase.
The revised stipend, based on a consumer price index of 2.94, will be implemented from April 1, 2025, for junior doctors in the state’s medical colleges. The first-year postgraduate stipend will rise from ₹75,444 to ₹77,662, the second-year from ₹77,764 to ₹80,050, and the third-year from ₹80,086 to ₹82,441. Additionally, the stipend for interns will increase from ₹13,928 to ₹14,337. The stipends for first, second, and third-year super specialty courses will also be set at ₹82,441. The stipend for senior residents will rise from ₹88,210 to ₹90,803, while junior residents will receive a stipend of ₹63,324. This decision will directly benefit all junior doctors studying and serving in government medical colleges across the state.
