New Delhi, May 9: Senior BJP leader Shah Nawaz Hussain has asserted that if Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, loses the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2027, Congress will sever its alliance with him.
In a recent discussion in New Delhi, Hussain described Congress as an opportunistic party that discards weaker allies when it suits them. His comments were in response to a recent post by Akhilesh Yadav on social media.
Hussain noted that Yadav’s post, which criticized Congress, indicates his fear that a defeat in 2027 would lead Congress to part ways with him.
Regarding Yadav’s meetings with Mamata Banerjee and MK Stalin, Hussain remarked that Yadav has become a “tourist,” visiting allies only when they face defeat. He expressed concern that Congress is quick to abandon partners when they encounter difficulties, citing Rahul Gandhi’s statements prior to election results against Banerjee in Bengal and Congress’s shift in stance as the DMK’s situation worsened in Tamil Nadu.
Hussain further claimed that Congress is uncertain about its prospects in Kerala. Despite winning, the party has yet to finalize a candidate for Chief Minister, as local leaders resist the imposition of KC Venugopal.
Targeting Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal, Hussain criticized him for relying solely on press conferences. He accused the party of corruption and claimed that it is now exploiting Punjab after Delhi.
On the topic of Bengal, he mentioned that Suvendu Adhikari has become the Chief Minister, and a BJP government is now in place. He expressed optimism that the state will embark on a path of development, contrasting it with the previous TMC government, which he described as plagued by lawlessness. Hussain believes that under BJP leadership, Bengal will become a hub for new industries and employment opportunities, fulfilling the dream of a prosperous “Sonar Bangla.”
