Chandigarh, September 3: Punjab Minister Aman Arora stated that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is attempting to tarnish the reputation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership. He accused the central investigative agency of sending repeated letters, leaking selective information to the media, and making vague allegations instead of providing solid evidence.
Arora mentioned that the Punjab Police had previously requested complete documents and electronic data from the central agency. However, the ED has failed to deliver clear and actionable evidence.
He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to create chaos, intimidate political leadership, and exert pressure on government officials to hinder the functioning of the elected Punjab government.
According to Arora, the repeated messages sent by the ED to Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav reflect the ‘anxiety and desperation’ of the BJP-led central government.
He noted that the Punjab Police had formally written to the ED on August 28, requesting comprehensive documentary and electronic evidence to support the allegations.
Arora emphasized that the information provided so far by the ED is either unclear or unreadable. Therefore, all evidence, documents, and electronic data seized during searches should be handed over for a proper investigation.
The ED was instructed to send an officer with the necessary information by September 1, but no officer appeared.
Arora accused the ED of deliberately throwing the names of AAP leaders into the media spotlight, despite the lack of proven misconduct.
He also revealed that attempts were being made to reach him through his old friend Gaurav Dheer.
Providing further details, Arora explained that the approval for land use changes related to the Altus project had been granted six times. However, not a single change was approved during the tenure of the AAP government.
