Patna, September 3: In a recent address, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised concerns about ‘vote theft’ while referencing Maharashtra and West Bengal. He accused the BJP of ignoring the public’s needs, claiming that the government formed through ‘vote theft’ does not prioritize the citizens.
In response, Upendra Kushwaha, a member of the National Lok Morcha (RLM), questioned the effectiveness of Gandhi’s protests against the SIR in Bihar. He noted that the public did not take Gandhi’s remarks seriously in Maharashtra either.
Addressing the flood situation in Bihar, Kushwaha acknowledged the rising water levels as a serious concern but assured that the state government is actively managing the crisis.
When asked about Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s statements, Kushwaha remarked that such issues are not new and have been raised multiple times. He suggested that the more these topics are discussed, the stronger the NDA’s voter base will become. He emphasized that the public is more focused on fundamental issues affecting farmers and youth.
Kushwaha also mentioned the provision for reviewing reservations every ten years and urged Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi to avoid conflicts. He expressed agreement with Paswan’s stance.
On a separate note, former Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras commented on the threats faced by Minister Chira Paswan, stating that the culprits should face severe punishment. He highlighted Paswan’s role as a significant leader in the Dalit community and his support for reservations, which are enshrined in the Constitution by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
Paras recalled that his predecessor, Ram Vilas Paswan, advocated for reservations during his tenure, asserting that marginalized individuals should receive 15% reservation.
