Agra, May 25: A severe heatwave is currently affecting Uttar Pradesh, prompting the government to implement various safety measures for public protection. In light of the extreme temperatures, the health department has issued advisories urging residents to remain vigilant.
Dr. Amardeep from the Etah District Hospital emphasized the need for caution during this heatwave. He advised people to avoid going outside between 11 AM and 4 PM unless absolutely necessary. If one must venture out, wearing a light cloth, hat, or sunglasses is recommended. Additionally, it is crucial to stay hydrated by consuming fluids such as juices, lemonade, plain water, and sugarcane juice.
Dr. Amardeep warned that dehydration can adversely affect blood circulation, leading to increased health issues. He also highlighted the importance of being cautious with food left outside. Just as food spoils quickly when left out of the fridge, items at weddings, community feasts, or other events can also spoil rapidly, potentially causing gastrointestinal problems like vomiting and diarrhea.
In response to the heatwave, the Yogi government is on high alert. All hospitals have been placed on standby, with beds reserved for patients affected by heat-related illnesses. The government has ensured the availability of necessary medications and has also arranged for cold water supplies in all hospitals, with directives for immediate medical assistance for patients.
The state government has urged residents to only step out in the sun for essential tasks and to remain indoors whenever possible to ensure their safety.
