Serbia Expands Natural Gas Supply Agreement with Russia

Belgrade, March 30: Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced on Monday that he has secured a highly favorable extension of the natural gas supply agreement with Russia.

Vučić revealed that after a 50-minute phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he achieved a significant extension of the gas supply from Russia. He also warned Europe about a potential energy crisis.

During a press conference, Vučić stated that the new agreement extends Serbia’s existing gas contract for an additional three months, maintaining terms below current market prices.

Serbia will receive six million cubic meters of gas daily, priced between $320 and $330 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Vučić emphasized that this arrangement provides Serbia with the flexibility to increase import volumes during harsh weather or natural disasters.

He remarked, “We will likely be the second or third country in Europe with the lowest gas prices.”

In addition to energy cooperation, both leaders discussed long-term bilateral collaboration from 2026 to 2030. According to Vučić, the talks included pharmaceutical partnerships, potential nuclear energy cooperation, and the involvement of Russian railways in Serbian infrastructure projects.

The Serbian President also warned that any potential ground attack against Iran could lead to the greatest energy and economic disaster in history for Europe and the world.

Vučić stated that Europe cannot withstand such a crisis. No one can.

He urged European leaders to seek immediate diplomatic solutions and to engage with all available global energy suppliers, including Russia, to mitigate the risks of the crisis.
