Jamshedpur, June 14: Security at Ghaghidih Central Jail in Jharkhand is under scrutiny once again. Despite a three-tier security system, a woman managed to smuggle a smartphone into the prison and record a video of incarcerated criminals. The video has since gone viral, causing a stir within the jail administration and police department.
The footage features notorious criminals from the Golmuri area, including Vicky Kundi, Aman Shekhar, Balram Singh alias Chhotu, and Vineet Singh. Background music promoting gangster culture raises serious questions about the prison’s surveillance and security measures.
An initial investigation revealed that the video was shared from a social media account belonging to Nishant Singh, who is identified as the brother of Balram Singh, currently imprisoned. Following this revelation, the jail administration has launched a comprehensive investigation.
According to police, all individuals seen in the video have criminal records. They are accused of extorting ₹10 lakh from businessman Rajkumar Sah in Golmuri and firing at two different locations in one night. Vicky Kundi and Aman Shekhar face around 12 charges, including a court gate shooting and an attack on Akshay Singh in Sidgora.
After the video went viral, authorities reviewed CCTV footage from the jail. The investigation showed that a female visitor recorded the video inside the facility. Police are also exploring whether this incident is linked to gang rivalries or territorial disputes.
There has been an ongoing feud between Raza Alam, imprisoned in connection with the Kanhaiya Yadav murder case, and the Vicky Kundi faction. Following a complaint from the jail administration, a case has been registered against Raza Alam’s mother, Nishant Singh, and others at the Parsudih police station. The police are investigating all aspects of the case.
