Scottie Schefflers Masters Disappointment: A Frustrating Final Round

New Delhi, April 14: Scottie Scheffler made a late push to secure his third Masters title. The world number one birdied holes 15 and 16, closing in on Rory McIlroy, the tournament leader. However, he ultimately fell short, losing by just one stroke.

Scheffler started strong, birdieing the first and third holes. But his momentum stalled during the middle of the round, and he has every right to feel frustrated with his playing partner’s performance.

Why Scottie Scheffler May Be Frustrated with Haotong Li

Scheffler and Haotong Li experienced vastly different Sundays at Augusta. Both began the day at seven under par, but while Scheffler surged, Li struggled significantly.

Li finished the tournament at one over par after an unfortunate final round of 80. He played the front nine at even par, but a triple bogey on hole 12 and a quintuple bogey on hole 13 sent him tumbling down the leaderboard.

His performance on the 13th hole was particularly chaotic. Li’s approach shot veered left into the bushes, requiring three attempts to extricate the ball. He then putted from off the green, only to see the ball land in Rae’s Creek, resulting in a score of 10 for that hole.

Throughout this ordeal, Scheffler waited to take his crucial putt, witnessing Li’s struggles during a critical stretch where he aimed to make a comeback. Li bogeyed holes five, six, and eight on the front nine, perfectly coinciding with Scheffler’s lost momentum. The world number one struggled to regain his rhythm as he waited for Li to recover from his mistakes.

While Scheffler did not perform well enough throughout the week to claim the Green Jacket, one can only speculate how the outcome might have differed with a different playing partner on that pivotal Sunday.
