Sanjay Nirupam Blames Mamata Banerjee for Voters Being Denied Their Rights

Mumbai, April 8: Sanjay Nirupam, a leader of the Shiv Sena, has asserted that if any valid voter is denied the opportunity to vote in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be held responsible.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Nirupam stated that the Election Commission initiated a Special Information Report (SIR) to rectify the voter list. However, he accused Banerjee, who is also the head of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), of obstructing the Commission’s efforts. As a result, the SIR has not yet been completed, and the voting date for the Bengal elections is fast approaching.

He emphasized that the government should have supported the Commission’s work. Voters whose names have been removed from the list should have been given time to file objections. If legitimate voters are left unable to cast their votes, Mamata Banerjee will bear the blame.

Regarding the Kerala Assembly elections, Nirupam noted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is emerging as a significant third force. He pointed out that the BJP is causing harm to the Congress party, with a substantial voter base shifting towards the BJP. He believes the political landscape could change significantly.

On the recent ceasefire between the United States and Iran, Nirupam welcomed the development. He mentioned that Iran has stated that Israel should be excluded from this ceasefire.

He remarked that although the ceasefire is set for two weeks, it has provided relief to the world. The manner in which the U.S. intimidated Iran had forced it to yield. However, the ceasefire is a positive step, as war cannot resolve any disputes.

Regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, Nirupam indicated that a significant political revolution is on the horizon, with one-third of the seats reserved for women. He urged all political parties to participate in this session and advocate for an increase in seats for women in both the House and the Assembly before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
