May 22, 2025 | Tech Desk – Samsung is gearing up for a major shift in its foldable lineup this year. According to new reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will not only arrive in July 2025, but it will also be the first Samsung device to be powered by the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset. This marks a pivotal move by the company as it attempts to reintroduce Exynos chips in its premium devices — starting with a foldable.

This development is particularly significant as the Exynos 2500 was originally expected to debut with the Galaxy S25, but was delayed due to production yield issues. Now, the chip is ready to power the Z Flip 7 in select markets, including India and South Korea.
Exynos 2500: First 3nm SoC Built In-House
As per SamMobile, the Exynos 2500 is built on Samsung’s second-generation 3nm process node and features:
-
10-core CPU configuration
-
Maximum clock speed: 3.3GHz
-
Xclipse 950 GPU (RDNA-based architecture)
-
16MB L3 cache
-
Expected efficiency and thermal performance gains over 4nm predecessors
This SoC is a critical test of Samsung Foundry’s advancements in chip production, especially after facing tough competition from TSMC-fabricated Snapdragon chips.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 to Lead Samsung’s Exynos Comeback
If confirmed, the Z Flip 7 would be the first Samsung foldable device to be powered by an Exynos chip. All previous generations of Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold devices have exclusively featured Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to receive marginal design changes but will benefit from the chipset upgrade in terms of battery life, performance, and thermal management — key for compact foldables.
What About the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE?
While rumors hint at a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — a more affordable clamshell alternative — the Exynos 2500 will not feature in this budget model. The FE variant is likely to stick with a lower-end Snapdragon chipset to keep costs in check and widen appeal, similar to what Motorola is doing with the Razr 50.
Limited Rollout of Exynos-Powered Z Flip 7
Samsung is reportedly restricting the Exynos 2500-powered Z Flip 7 to a few markets. Key regions like India and South Korea will get this version, while North America and China may continue to receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy variant.
