The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected to launch in early 2026, may not include the battery upgrade that many users have been hoping for. Since the beginning, Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra series has consistently offered the same battery capacity. Although the company has managed to deliver decent screen-on time through software optimisation and efficient processors, it is uncertain whether the same performance can be expected from the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to a recent report, the phone may come with a larger display, but is unlikely to include a bigger battery.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Battery Details
Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a 5,000mAh battery. If this report is accurate, 2026 would mark the sixth consecutive year that Samsung has not increased the battery size in its Galaxy S Ultra models. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, the flagship S-series phone, also comes with a 5,000mAh battery—just like its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra, launched in February 2020, was the first phone in the series to include a 5,000mAh battery. According to Gadgets 360’s review, the phone offered “very good” battery life. Even five years later, the Galaxy S25 Ultra has managed to deliver strong battery performance despite having the same battery capacity. Still, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s actual battery life will ultimately depend on the efficiency of its chipset and the quality of its software optimisation.
Larger Display, Same Battery
Leaks suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may feature a 6.89-inch display with thinner bezels, which is 0.3 inches bigger than the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s screen. Despite this increase in screen size, the battery capacity is expected to remain the same.
Expected Chipset and Camera Upgrades
According to previous reports, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is likely to be powered by a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 SoC, which is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process. In terms of photography, the phone may feature a 1/1.1-inch 200-megapixel primary rear Sony sensor. This would be a notable upgrade from the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s proprietary 1/1.3-inch sensor, and could result in significant improvements in photo and video quality.
