Washington, July 30: President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will deliver a robust response following another attack by Iran-backed forces. He stated that after five missiles were intercepted by the U.S. military, it is now time for America to retaliate.
On Wednesday, Trump announced plans to revamp Washington Dulles International Airport. Following this, he revealed that he was informed about a drone attack on an LNG tanker near Egypt, indicating that Washington is preparing for military action, while also leaving the door open for potential negotiations in the future.
“We will strike them hard because it is now our turn to retaliate. I know this will happen. They are urging us not to respond, but they attempted an attack last night,” Trump said.
He noted that five rockets were launched at a speed of 8,500 miles per hour, but it was fortunate that U.S. personnel were operating the world’s best equipment, the Patriot system, which successfully intercepted all the rockets. Despite this, the attack was attempted, and now it is America’s turn to respond. “We will see if any agreement can be reached, but we are going to hit them very hard,” he added.
Trump suggested that ballistic missiles were involved in the attack attempt.
When asked if the U.S. would always respond militarily to such attacks, Trump replied, “To a large extent.” He dismissed suggestions that these attacks would force Washington to withdraw its troops from the region, stating, “I don’t think so. No, we will not do that.”
He mentioned that those responsible for the attack had already attempted to de-escalate tensions. “This was a different group from the one we are dealing with. They have already apologized, but we need to teach them a lesson,” Trump emphasized.
The President also addressed reports that Iran might receive hundreds of rocket launchers from China via Pakistan. He expressed surprise if this were to happen, stating that Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him that Beijing would not provide weapons to Iran, knowing it would greatly disappoint him.
After a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump reiterated his desire to end the war. “The meeting went well. I have good relations with Presidents Putin and Zelensky. I said, just end the war,” he remarked.
Trump urged Congress to strengthen pending legislation against Iran, stating, “I would like them to impose not just sanctions but also tariffs on Iran. I think this is necessary.”
These recent statements come amid rising tensions in the Middle East, following multiple attacks by Iran-backed groups and U.S. forces in the region. Washington has repeatedly asserted that it will respond to attacks on American personnel and military bases while continuing diplomatic efforts to prevent broader regional conflict.
