New Delhi, May 24: BJP MP Sambit Patra has sharply responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent ‘farewell’ statement in the Lok Sabha, accusing the opposition of attempting to create an atmosphere of instability and chaos in the country.
During a meeting of the Congress Minority Advisory Committee, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi’s departure is inevitable within the next year, attributing this to growing economic discontent. In response, Patra labeled Gandhi’s remarks as indicative of an anti-democratic mindset.
Patra highlighted that this is not the first time Gandhi has made such comments. He referenced a similar statement from 2019, where Gandhi suggested that a time would come when people would take to the streets for violent protests against PM Modi.
Patra noted that Modi had responded with remarkable calm and restraint during that period.
The BJP MP asserted that Gandhi’s recent remarks clearly indicate the opposition’s intention to destabilize the government rather than engage in democratic processes. He emphasized that such statements are not made without political motives and are an attempt to spread confusion and unrest in the country.
Patra pointed out that while the world grapples with wars and economic challenges, India is progressing steadily under PM Modi’s leadership. He claimed that the Modi government enjoys the support and trust of 1.4 billion citizens and is consistently focused on the nation’s interests and public service.
The BJP deemed Gandhi’s statement irresponsible, asserting that India’s democracy and constitution are robust, and that the government operates on the mandate of the people.
