Hyderabad, June 15: Telangana’s Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka recently hailed the Salar Jung Museum as a vibrant symbol of Hyderabad’s soul, religious harmony, and secularism. He made these remarks during the museum’s 75th anniversary celebration and the 137th birth anniversary of its founder, Salar Jung III, Mir Yusuf Ali Khan.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, and AIMIM MLA Mir Zulfiqar Ali.
Vikramarka emphasized that Salar Jung III was a visionary who preserved the essence of world civilization. He noted that while many people forget small details, Salar Jung III curated approximately 43,000 rare artifacts, safeguarding an entire civilization.
He explained that this collection is not merely an assembly of objects but a testament to the founder’s deep commitment to art. These rare items, purchased with his personal resources, have now become public heritage.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the museum’s collection, which includes bronze statues of Hindu deities, copies of the Quran, Madonna statues of Jesus Christ, and Buddhist artifacts—all housed under one roof, exemplifying religious unity.
He also pointed out that there are ritualistic artifacts that depict the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu alongside verses from the Quran, showcasing the living example of ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb.’
Vikramarka referred to the Musi River as a stream of memories for Hyderabad. He announced that the state government plans to clean and develop it into a modern riverfront project akin to London’s Thames and Paris’s Seine.
He stated that the Salar Jung Museum would be developed not just as a building but as a cultural heritage site, becoming a major attraction of the revitalized riverfront.
Additionally, the government plans to connect the museum with other historical sites in the old city, such as Charminar, Golconda Fort, Qutb Shahi Tombs, Chowmohalla Palace, and Falaknuma Palace.
There are also plans to promote night tourism, guided tours, and improved transportation facilities. Vikramarka concluded by asserting that Hyderabad is not limited to its history and Charminar but has also become a global hub for cyber towers and modern technology.
