Sachin Pilot Criticizes Goa Government for Exploiting Residents

Panaji, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Sachin Pilot has sharply criticized the BJP government in Goa, stating that it is more focused on extracting resources from the public rather than providing support. He emphasized that the state needs a government that nurtures the talents of youth and ordinary citizens, offering them opportunities to thrive.

Speaking to reporters, Pilot remarked, “Governments coming to power should give something back to the people. However, here, every government seems to take something from the citizens, whether it’s related to mining, land, or forests.” He expressed concern that the current administration is not fulfilling its responsibility to enhance public welfare.

Pilot also addressed recent controversies surrounding the Election Commission, revealing that he has been informed that approximately 140,000 votes have been removed from the electoral rolls in Goa. With assembly elections approaching, he stressed the need for serious attention to voter registration issues.

To engage with voters, the Goa Congress Committee has initiated a campaign to connect directly with the public. Pilot noted that the issues Congress is raising lack clear responses from the government.

Additionally, he questioned the BJP’s claim of a “double-engine government,” pointing out that despite the BJP’s long-standing rule in both Goa and Delhi, serious issues persist on the ground.

Pilot highlighted that law and order has become one of the most pressing issues in Goa in recent years. He urged the government to focus on empowering the youth, local residents, and their talents.

He concluded by stating that the people of Goa face critical challenges, including employment, development, environmental concerns, land rights, and law enforcement. As the assembly elections approach, Congress aims to address these issues directly with the public.
