Jerusalem, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Friday that the attacker involved in the recent FlyDubai incident had been radicalized by Islamic extremism, with intentions to crash the plane along with all its passengers.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, Netanyahu emphasized that as time progresses, the situation becomes clearer. He praised the actions of the pilot, Yaniv, and his courageous team, who managed to avert a tragedy reminiscent of 9/11. “The attacker had been influenced by radical Islamic ideology and aimed to crash the aircraft with all those on board,” he remarked.
Netanyahu, in a video message from his office, indicated that investigations are currently underway to determine if the attacker had accomplices. “Whoever sent him will pay a heavy price,” he warned.
Earlier, Anwar Gargash, an advisor to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, commended the bravery and professionalism displayed by Indian pilot Smita Machhar during the “dangerous terrorist incident” that occurred on Wednesday. Gargash expressed his admiration on X, stating, “Smita Machhar deserves all praise. She exemplified courage and responsibility in the face of a dangerous act of terrorism and potential disaster. Her professionalism and moral compass in the most challenging circumstances make her a true hero.”
The UAE’s Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that a special team of public prosecutors has been assigned to investigate the incident, including its circumstances and causes.
The ministry emphasized that UAE judicial authorities have jurisdiction over the investigation, as the aircraft is registered in the UAE and operates under its flag. Consequently, UAE law applies to crimes committed on the aircraft, regardless of where they occur.
Furthermore, the ministry indicated that the investigation will explore all aspects of the incident, including its motives and any potential connections to terrorist activities or premeditated plans. The UAE also expressed gratitude to Saudi authorities for their cooperation and effective handling of the situation.
