Earlier, Jaishankar discussed the theme of “Partnership for Progress.” He thanked Suriname’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his counterpart, Melvin Bouva, for organizing the event.

Sharing pictures from the conference on X, he wrote, “This evening, I addressed the theme of ‘Partnership for Progress’ in Paramaribo. Thank you to Foreign Minister Melvin Bouva and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Suriname for hosting this event.”

He further emphasized that progress is essential even in a challenging world and can best be achieved through partnerships. Jaishankar stated, “This is the India that will partner with Suriname in its development journey and together we will write the next chapter of the India-Suriname story.”

Earlier on Thursday, Jaishankar inaugurated a fruit processing center in Paramaribo, established with India’s economic assistance. India provided fruit processing machines funded by a $1 million grant for small and medium enterprises, announced by Jaishankar in 2025.
