Kolkata, March 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its second list of 111 candidates for the West Bengal Assembly elections, announcing Rupa Ganguly as the candidate for the Sonarpur South constituency.
In a conversation in Kolkata, Ganguly expressed her gratitude to the party’s top leadership for the nomination. She noted that her constituency is currently represented by a female legislator from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), along with another female candidate from the left front. “All three of us are women, and I wish to greet both of them with full respect. I will present my views to the public. The people have given TMC several chances, but they have not received justice or peace. Now, the public must consider that if they desire justice and peace, they need to vote for change,” she stated.
Ganguly highlighted the dire state of healthcare in Bengal, mentioning that many areas lack even basic primary health centers. “If a double-engine government is formed in Bengal, development will follow,” she asserted.
She also promised that if the BJP comes to power, the process of filling all vacant positions in the government will commence by December 26, 2026, without any corruption. “This is the most crucial aspect. Everything will start in a completely transparent manner,” she added.
Addressing the political landscape in West Bengal, Ganguly criticized the current administration for favoring their own supporters in job allocations and housing schemes, which she claims deprives the general public of necessary services. “The TMC government and its leaders only seek to fill their own pockets. The law and order situation is so poor that over 6,000 factories and companies have left the state,” she remarked.
Regarding Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s comments on the transfer of officials, she stated that the appointed officials are not uneducated. “They are IAS officers and DMs from various places. The real issue is that these officials are not connected to her circle and do not work at her behest,” she explained.
Ganguly concluded by expressing her belief that the Election Commission is performing its duties, adding that she does not have the right to speak on their behalf, but noted that the incoming officials are indeed qualified.
