Rohit Sharma on the Brink of Major Milestone Against KKR in IPL 2026

Mumbai, March 29: The second match of IPL 2026 is set to take place on Sunday between the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai has a strong record against KKR, and Rohit Sharma has a golden opportunity to achieve a significant milestone in this match.

Currently, the record for the most runs scored against KKR in IPL history belongs to David Warner, who has amassed 1,093 runs in 28 innings against their bowling attack. Rohit Sharma ranks second on this list, with 1,083 runs in 35 innings. If Rohit scores just 11 runs in the upcoming match, he will surpass Warner and become the highest run-scorer against KKR in IPL history. Rohit has always performed well against KKR, boasting one century and six half-centuries against them.

Mumbai’s record at Wankhede Stadium against KKR is impressive. The two teams have faced each other 12 times at this venue, with Mumbai winning 10 of those matches, while KKR has managed to win only two. Overall, Mumbai has a dominant record, winning 24 out of 35 encounters, compared to KKR’s 11 victories. In their last meeting in 2025, Mumbai secured an 8-wicket win.

This season, the Mumbai Indians appear to be a formidable side. Their batting lineup includes Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Rutherford, providing a strong batting order. On the bowling front, they have two exceptional bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, with Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur also capable of making a significant impact during the powerplay.

On the other hand, KKR’s batting order looks promising as well, with Tim Seifert and Finn Allen in excellent form. However, the team will also be looking for strong performances from Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, and Rovman Powell this season. KKR’s pace attack seems to be weakened in IPL 2026, as Harshit Rana and Akashdeep Singh are out of the tournament due to injuries.
