Rohit Saraf Discusses Violence and Change in The Revolutionaries

Mumbai, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Actor Rohit Saraf is making headlines with his latest series, “The Revolutionaries,” where he portrays the freedom fighter Sachindra Nath Sanyal. The series delves into the era of revolutionaries who believed that armed struggle was essential to end British rule.

During the promotion of the series, Saraf shared his thoughts on the use of violence for societal change. He firmly stated that he does not condone violence in any form today.

When asked about the relationship between fighting for justice and violence, Saraf differentiated between his personal beliefs and those of his character. He explained, “I absolutely do not believe in violence. However, the time depicted in the series was very different from today. Gandhi came later, and revolutionaries then had a different path for struggle. They did not have easy access to weapons; often, they had to craft them or steal them.”

Saraf expressed gratitude for living in the 21st century, a time when he hasn’t had to resort to violence to achieve his goals. “I have received a lot in life, so I never felt the need to rebel violently as those revolutionaries did,” he added.

Discussing his character, Saraf elaborated on Sachindra’s perspective. For Sachin, Raza Bihari Bose was like a god; he idolized him and aspired to be like him. Sachin believed that his family was not contributing enough to India’s freedom struggle, as they worked behind the scenes. For him, genuine contribution meant being actively involved in the revolution, as he saw no better alternative.

Saraf highlighted that the series portrays his character’s journey, showing how Sachin gradually comes to understand the significance of non-violence. This evolution adds depth to the story, demonstrating that the character’s beliefs are not static but change with circumstances and experiences.

“The Revolutionaries” is produced by Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani under the banner of Emme Entertainment, with a story written by Sanjeev Sanyal. The series is now streaming on Prime Video.
