Nagpur, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Rohit Pawar, a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), addressed several pressing issues during a recent discussion, including the Maratha reservation movement, the FIR in the Disha Salian case, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and statements made by Minister Nitesh Rane.
Commenting on Manoj Jarange Patil’s decision to march to Mumbai for the Maratha reservation, Pawar stressed the importance of communication between the government and protesters. “It is crucial for those in power to engage with the activists, whether it be Jarange Patil or anyone else fasting or demonstrating. Dialogue is the key to resolving issues,” he stated.
He lamented the lack of a solution to the ongoing reservation issue, which has led to the planned march. “There is still time for ministers to meet with the protesters and reach a consensus,” he added.
Regarding the Disha Salian case, Pawar noted the involvement of prominent figures in the new FIR. He recalled the previous case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, which also drew political scrutiny but eventually led to a clean chit for Aditya Thackeray. “It seems likely that a similar outcome will occur in this case,” he remarked.
Pawar expressed concern over the political motivations behind naming leaders in such investigations, suggesting that media trials often overshadow the truth. He speculated that the involvement of the CBI might influence upcoming elections in 2029, as political dynamics shift whenever the agency is active.
The Bombay High Court had directed the CBI to file a new FIR in the Disha Salian case, which involves the former celebrity manager of Rajput, who died under suspicious circumstances in June 2020.
On the topic of the UCC, Pawar criticized the government for prioritizing it over pressing safety concerns in the state. “Women today feel unsafe walking the streets. There is a real fear of going out at night. If we want to talk about something, it should be women’s safety. The UCC is distracting from these critical issues,” he stated.
In response to Minister Nitesh Rane’s challenge to the FDA Commissioner regarding food safety, Pawar suggested that such statements are often made for political gain rather than genuine concern. “The government takes these remarks seriously, but the public does not,” he concluded.
Tensions in Maharashtra politics continue to rise as these issues unfold, with Pawar advocating for meaningful dialogue and action.
