Narsinghpur, June 7: Thieves targeted the Neminath Jain Temple located in Karakbel, Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, stealing gold and silver canopies from the idols. They also made off with the CCTV DVR and damaged security equipment. The police are currently investigating the incident.
According to ASP Sandeep Bhuriya, the robbery occurred between 1 AM and 4 AM. Special teams have been formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police Dr. Rishikesh Meena. The investigation is based on technical aspects, intelligence information, and human sources.
ASP Bhuriya stated that he personally visited the site to inspect the entire temple complex. All potential evidence collected from the scene is being analyzed. The investigation involves a fingerprint team, dog squad, and technical experts.
He emphasized that the station in-charge and SDOP have been instructed to monitor the case closely and prioritize it. Initial findings suggest that the thieves specifically targeted the DVR to erase any identification evidence.
The police are taking the investigation seriously, deploying special teams for the case. Local residents have been urged to assist. Anyone with information regarding suspicious activities related to the incident is encouraged to contact the police. Authorities are hopeful for a swift resolution to the case.
All idols in the temple remain safe, and a reassessment of the temple’s security measures and equipment is underway.
Abhishek Jain, a member of the temple committee, mentioned that the incident was likely carried out by at least three to four thieves. They first broke the lock on the main door to gain entry into the temple premises. They then moved directly to the canopies and footprints on the idols to attempt theft.
He noted that the thieves damaged two CCTV cameras and tried to destroy a third. They attempted to knock down the camera in the sanctum with a long object but did not succeed in completely damaging it. Fearing identification through the cameras, the thieves targeted the DVR, which was stored at a nearby school. They broke in, forced the door, and took the DVR with them.
Jain stated that the thieves made every effort to eliminate evidence. The DVR from the school was also stolen. It is estimated that the entire operation took them about one and a half to two hours. They managed to steal three canopies and attempted to damage the idols of Lord Parshvanath and Lord Chandraprabhu.
The police are considering all aspects in their investigation and are confident that the case will be resolved soon.
