Noida, May 8: Currently, the weather in the NCR region is providing some relief from the heat. The presence of clouds, intermittent sunshine, and strong winds have made the oppressive heat less noticeable.
However, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are expected to rise steadily in the coming days, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 38 degrees Celsius between May 10 and 12. The local forecast indicates that on May 8, the maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 21 degrees. The sky is expected to be mostly clear, and no weather warnings have been issued.
On May 9, temperatures are projected to increase to 36 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 24 degrees. By May 10, the maximum temperature could reach 38 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 26 degrees. The same maximum temperature is anticipated for May 11, with a minimum of 27 degrees. During this period, the sky may remain partially cloudy. On May 12, a slight decrease in temperature is expected, with a maximum of 37 degrees and a minimum of 27 degrees, while May 13 could see a maximum of 36 degrees and a minimum of 25 degrees.
The weather department has not issued any heat wave warnings for the next five days. The impact of strong winds is also evident in the air quality. In most areas of Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is currently recorded in the satisfactory and green zone. In Chandni Chowk, the AQI is 53, while it stands at 78 in the Commonwealth Sports Complex and CRRI Mathura Road. Other areas like Alipur recorded an AQI of 94, Aaya Nagar 91, Burari Crossing 97, and the Cantonment area 96.
However, areas like Anand Vihar reported an AQI of 122, Ashok Vihar 103, and Bawana 120, indicating moderate air quality. In Noida, Sector 62 recorded an AQI of 79 and Sector 125 94, both in the satisfactory range. Conversely, Sector 1 had an AQI of 102 and Sector 116 105. In Ghaziabad, Sanjay Nagar recorded an AQI of 75 and Vasundhara 90, while Indirapuram recorded 106, Loni 142, and Govindpuram 145.
The worst air quality was noted in the Ved Vihar-Loni area, where the AQI reached 203, classified as poor. Meteorologists suggest that while the current weather conditions are providing relief due to the influence of western disturbances and active winds, temperatures will gradually rise, and the heat will become more pronounced by mid-May in the NCR region.
