
Raipur, May 30: The police in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur district have intensified efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in the recent shooting and robbery at the Kotmi weekly market. In light of the incident’s severity, Inspector General (IG) Ramgopal Garg of the Bilaspur range has raised the reward for information leading to the suspects’ arrest to ₹30,000.
On May 26, unidentified assailants targeted trader Pradeep Soni at the Kotmi weekly market. After shooting at him, the attackers fled with gold and silver jewelry. The incident caused widespread panic in the area. The injured trader was promptly taken to the hospital, while the police initiated an investigation at the scene.
The Pendra police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. Since the incident, law enforcement has been actively searching for the suspects, conducting raids at multiple locations, and questioning potential witnesses. However, the suspects remain at large.
To ensure the swift capture of the suspects and to encourage public cooperation, IG Ramgopal Garg has significantly increased the previously announced reward from ₹5,000 to ₹30,000. The police believe that this increase may lead to crucial information regarding the case.
Authorities have urged citizens to come forward with any reliable information, photos, or videos related to the suspects. Individuals providing accurate and useful information will be eligible for the cash reward of ₹30,000.
Police officials have assured that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential. They are hopeful that with public assistance, the suspects will be apprehended soon and brought to justice.
