Retired Air Force Officer Attacked in Gurugram Parking Dispute

Gurugram, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : A retired Indian Air Force officer, who served in the Kargil War, has reported a violent incident at a parking facility in Gurugram. Group Captain Amit Kumar Gupta (Retd.) claims that a parking attendant attacked him with a metal rod at Magnum Global Park, resulting in serious head injuries and a fractured arm.

In his complaint to the police, Gupta stated that he was assaulted after dining with his family at Gonzo Restaurant on the evening of September 14. After dropping his family off, he attempted to find parking for his vehicle. Gupta alleges that parking staff directed him to various areas, including valet and multi-level parking, but ultimately refused to allow him to park.

While trying to reverse his car, an attendant reportedly struck the windshield, seemingly attempting to damage the vehicle. Gupta recounted that he got out of his car to confront the staff about their behavior, which escalated the situation. He claims the attendant then attacked him twice with the rod—once on his arm and once on his head.

The retired officer described profuse bleeding from his injuries and stated that the attacker threatened his life. Despite the presence of security personnel and other staff, no one intervened immediately. Gupta called the police helpline but alleged that it took nearly 30 minutes for officers to arrive.

Fortunately, a chef from the restaurant intervened to prevent further escalation. Gupta was subsequently taken to Medanta Hospital, where he underwent surgery for severe injuries to his head and elbow, including the use of plates to stabilize the fractured bone.

Gupta characterized the attack as unprovoked and expressed concern that the hospital’s medical-legal report did not accurately reflect the severity of his injuries. He is calling for strict action against the assailant and has urged the police to register a First Information Report (FIR) for attempted murder and causing grievous harm.

Operation White Sea, in which Gupta participated during the Kargil War in 1999, involved high-altitude air operations by the Indian Air Force to repel Pakistani infiltrators from occupied Indian positions.
