Mathura, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Samajwadi Party (SP) has taken significant disciplinary action in response to a violent incident that occurred during a Brahmin conference in Mathura. Two prominent party members have been expelled, along with 17 other long-time workers, due to allegations of misconduct.
The incident took place at the SP office in Mathura, where a meeting led by MP Sanatan Pandey escalated into a heated argument that resulted in physical altercations. Reports indicate that the district president of the SP was slapped during the confrontation. A video of the incident has circulated, prompting the party leadership to act swiftly.
Arvind Kumar Singh, a national executive member and former MP, issued an official memorandum detailing the expulsions. The memo states that Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Raghavendra Singh have been removed from the party. Sharma resides in Sarai Azamabad, while Singh is from Asgarpur village, both in Mathura district.
Raghavendra Singh has been an active party worker for many years, serving as the district president of the student wing from 2019 to 2022 and later leading the youth brigade until 2024. Bharat Bhushan Sharma has also been a long-standing member of the party.
However, the expelled workers have accused the party of taking unilateral action. Singh claimed that both sides were involved in the altercation, but he felt targeted without a thorough investigation. He expressed frustration over not being given a chance to present his side.
The memorandum has also been sent to key party figures, including National General Secretary Prof. Ramgopal Yadav and the district president of Mathura.
Sources within the party have indicated that there has been ongoing factionalism related to the Brahmin conference in Mathura. Disputes between two groups over preparations for the event led to the violence during the meeting. The SP leadership has conveyed a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated within the party.
