Relief from Heat in NCR: Rain and Strong Winds Expected Over the Next Four Days

New Delhi, April 28: The Indian Meteorological Department has announced that residents of the National Capital Region (NCR) can expect relief from the intense heat and heatwave conditions over the next four days.

This shift in weather is expected to bring a drop in temperatures, along with rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. There is also a forecasted partial improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI).

According to meteorological data, the maximum temperature recorded today is 42 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms with rain are anticipated, although no specific warnings have been issued.

On April 29, a slight decrease in temperature is expected, with maximums around 40 degrees and minimums at 26 degrees. Strong winds and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day. The temperature may drop further on April 30, reaching a maximum of 38 degrees and a minimum of 24 degrees, with partial cloud cover and possible thunderstorms in some areas.

By May 1, the weather is predicted to be mostly clear, but temperatures will remain around 40 degrees during the day and 24 degrees at night. However, the air quality in various parts of Delhi and NCR remains in the moderate to poor category.

In Anand Vihar, the AQI is recorded at 227, while Bawana shows 205 and the Cantonment area at 206. Areas like Ashok Vihar (193), Aya Nagar (199), and Chandni Chowk (162) maintain a moderate AQI. In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park-3 has an AQI of 228, and Knowledge Park-5 is at 253, indicating poor air quality.

The situation is more concerning in Ghaziabad, where areas like Indirapuram (214), Loni (278), Sanjay Nagar (228), Vasundhara (225), and Ved Vihar-Loni (352) report AQI levels ranging from poor to very poor. Meteorologists suggest that the upcoming rain and strong winds may help reduce the levels of dust and pollutants in the atmosphere, providing some relief to residents. However, caution is advised during the storms and high winds.
