Relief for Delhi-NCR Residents as Rain Brings 9-Degree Temperature Drop

New Delhi, June 16: Residents of the Delhi-NCR region experienced a welcome respite from the sweltering heat on Tuesday, thanks to light rainfall.

According to the meteorological department, the maximum temperature dropped by nearly 9 degrees Celsius following the rain, providing a much-needed coolness to the area. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 27 degrees Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts similar weather conditions for the coming days, with intermittent rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected in the Delhi-NCR region.

The IMD’s predictions indicate that the maximum temperature will hover around 34 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures ranging between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are anticipated to be between 65 and 40 percent. A rise in temperature may begin again from June 19.

From June 16 to 22, the IMD has predicted scattered to widespread rainfall across Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab. The weather department has forecast thunderstorms for most of these days. Fortunately, no severe weather warnings have been issued for the period from June 17 to 21.

A statement mentioned that on June 16 and 17, as well as from June 19 to 22, there is a possibility of scattered thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (with gusts reaching 40-60 km/h) in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Punjab. Similar conditions are expected in western Uttar Pradesh on June 17.

Some weather experts believe that the influence of western disturbances and local meteorological activities may keep the weather pleasant in the Delhi-NCR region, despite the intense heat in June. Additionally, the likelihood of rain cannot be dismissed due to the expected increase in humidity.

Currently, the significant drop in temperature has provided considerable relief from the harsh heat, and intermittent rain is expected to continue in the coming days. The department has advised residents to remain cautious during adverse weather conditions.
