New Delhi, July 15: BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal has commented on the provisions related to live-in relationships under the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the central government’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for removing child sexual abuse material from social media platforms, and remarks made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding the Samajwadi Party.
Khandelwal emphasized that if the Supreme Court has legally recognized live-in relationships, their registration should also be mandatory. He stated that registration would ensure these relationships align with the law and judicial intent. It would also protect the rights of the parties involved and help reduce potential legal disputes in the future. He welcomed the Madhya Pradesh government’s efforts to include such provisions, calling it a positive and necessary step.
Regarding the allegations made by Yogi Adityanath against the Samajwadi Party, Khandelwal pointed out that the party had previously questioned the existence of Lord Ram and had a controversial stance towards Hindu beliefs. He accused the Samajwadi Party of neglecting religious sentiments in an attempt to appease a particular community for political gain. He noted that it is contradictory for them to now speak about the Ram Temple and faith, likening the situation to the saying, “After eating 900 mice, the cat went on a pilgrimage.” He remarked that the public is observing both the past and present stances of political parties.
Khandelwal welcomed the central government’s decision to issue an SOP for removing child sexual abuse material from social media platforms. He stated that such content is against the values and morals of Indian society. The dissemination of material related to child sexual abuse is a serious social and legal crime that cannot be accepted under any circumstances. He believes this step will send a positive message to society and increase accountability for social media platforms.
He further stated that to provide a safe environment for children and effectively curb such objectionable material, the government, society, and all relevant institutions must work together. This initiative will strengthen efforts to prevent serious issues like child sexual abuse and make digital platforms safer for children.
