Dehradun, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has achieved a remarkable milestone under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. This year, the number of pilgrims exceeded 5.6 million, breaking previous records for 2023.
The enthusiasm for the Char Dham Yatra continues to rise, drawing visitors from across the country and beyond to the sacred sites of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. This impressive figure not only reflects a growing trend in religious tourism but also the unwavering faith of devotees in Uttarakhand.
According to the state government, several factors contributed to this historic increase. Enhanced infrastructure, safe travel conditions, and improved facilities played crucial roles. Under Chief Minister Dhami’s guidance, extensive preparations were made to ensure a secure and streamlined pilgrimage experience. Health services along the travel routes were strengthened, and efforts were made to improve traffic management, drinking water supply, sanitation, parking, and disaster management.
Coordination among various departments, including administration, police, health services, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), was emphasized throughout the pilgrimage. This effective collaboration has allowed the journey to proceed smoothly, even amid challenging geographical conditions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives to develop infrastructure at key religious sites, including Kedarnath and Badrinath, have further solidified the region’s spiritual identity. Projects such as the Kedarnath reconstruction, the Badrinath master plan, and the All Weather Road have significantly improved connectivity, which directly impacts visitor facilities and numbers.
Expressing his delight over the record attendance, Chief Minister Dhami stated that every pilgrim visiting Uttarakhand is considered a guest. The state government is committed to ensuring that each visitor’s journey is safe, convenient, and enjoyable. He noted that the record number of pilgrims is a testament to the enhanced facilities being developed in Uttarakhand and the growing trust among devotees.
The Chief Minister also praised the efforts of all involved in the successful management of the Char Dham Yatra, including the administration, police, health department, SDRF, local bodies, priests, residents, and all personnel associated with the pilgrimage arrangements.
